Name: Energy Efficiency, Energy Codes, and Green Building - Best Practices for Understanding, Diagnosing, and Avoiding Problems in Polyurethane Foam Installations
    Date: December 13, 2022
    Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST
    Event Description:

This webinar introduces the most common causes of material and IAQ problems in spray foam and injection foam installations and presents newly developed methods for assuring a quality installation. In addition to an overview of the types of problems, the procedures for selecting the proper product(s) and a qualified installer for a foam installation are discussed. This discussion emphasizes the importance of addressing site protection and quality control during and after the installation. Case studies are used to demonstrate what to look for when assessing polyurethane foam installations.

    Learning Objectives

    1. Participants will be able to select the correct polyurethane foam product for specific building uses and applications.
    2. Participants will be able to require installers to provide a comprehensive set of submittals that will help assure a safe installation of foam plastic products and be able to develop a comprehensive set of minimum requirements for processing and installation that are necessary to complete successful foam projects.
    3. Participants will able to avoid the most common post-installation causes of product quality problems.
    4. Participants will be able to identify fire protection requirements for typical construction details and building locations.
    5. Participants will know what indicators of product quality to look for and how to perform basic on-site testing for product density, adhesion, pass thickness, and dimensional stability.
    6. Participants will be able to identify the best-practice methods for repairing anomalous defects in foam installations that are otherwise within acceptable limits.
